Claude R. Thomas Jr. age 75 of Ionia passed away at home surrounded by his family, October 14, 2008 in Ionia. He was born December 11, 1932 in Berlin Twp. the son of Claude R. and Jesse (Emelander) Thomas Sr. Claude married Mary Margaret Pitchford September 23, 1955 in Ionia. He loved to fish, hunt, and farm.
Claude is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Mary Margaret of Ionia; children, Cathy and Craig Hartman of Ionia, Dan and Wendy Thomas of Ionia and Carol and Lyndon Randall of Muir; brothers, Richard and Dee Thomas of Ionia and Leo Thomas of Ionia; sisters, Rose Moon of Ionia, Martha Swartz of Portland and Kay and Burt Taylor of Ionia; mother in law, Gladys Pitchford of Ionia; grandchildren, Nicole Stewart, Mandi Simon, Erin Randall and Tommy Randall; great grandchildren, Trevin Simon, Camryn Simon and Colin Stewart..
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Frank and Francis and 1 sister, Mary Ward.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00 A.M. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. John Prominski officiating. Interment Balcom Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in Claude’s name to Ionia Area Hospice or American Cancer Society.
