Pauline (Polly) Hafner North

 

Pauline (Polly) Hafner North aged 77 of Ionia passed away August 6, 2008. She was born January 4, 1931 in Croton, Michigan, the daughter of Herman and Frieda (Schlotz) Hafner. She married Howard North July 3, 1998 in Ionia.

Pauline owned and operated Hafner Floral with her parents 1949-2004. She was a life time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Pauline was also a member of Michigan State Florist Association, Frederick Meijer Gardens, Art Institute of Chicago, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a member of Chamber of Commerce, and Yellow Rose Hospital Guild. She was active with quilting and an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers.

Pauline is survived by her loving husband Howard North of Ionia; children Katie Brindle Green and Jim Green of Grand Rapids, Margaret Brindle and Dale Burklow of Grand Rapids, Christine Brindle and Terry Griffith of Chicago; step son Bob and Diane North of Pennsylvania ; brother Al and Yvonne Hafner of East Lansing; 3 Grandchildren Christopher Hardy,& Amanda Jones ,Justin and Sarah Hardy Molly Green; 4 step grandchildren Jesse , Esther ,Dennis and Ellen North; 3 great step grandchildren Samuel, Clara and Alice and several nieces and nephews and also Special best friend Joan Groteleuschen, lifelong friend and employee Sue(Suzie) King many sorority sisters and church friends.

She is preceded in death by her brother Herman Hafner Jr and 1 step daughter Nancy North.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. David Bogda officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday 2-4 and 6-9 at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. In lieu of flowers you may make contributions to Hall-Fowler Library, Frederick Meijer Garden or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
