Wilma Jean Cornish
Wilma (Lashbrook) Jean Cornish 1927-2008 age 80 passed away after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was preceded in death by her son James, her parents Gus and Mabel Lashbrook, her brothers Russell, Roy, Rex, Earl, Ervin, Gordon, and her sisters Ruby and Beverly.. Wilma will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of sixty years, John; her brother Purl Lashbrook; children George Cornish, Nancy (Curt) Johnson, Carole Cornish, , Paul (Vicky) Cornish, Patrick Cornish and Thomas Cornish; her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Wilma attended Eastern Michigan University to study voice and music. She played clarinet and percussion in the Marching Band at Spring Arbor, was in the Borgess Follies, volunteered as a candy striper, was an alto in St. Robert's Choir for many years, a member of the Cantata Choir, ministered seniors at Whispering Woods Home, volunteered as part of the St. Robert's bereavement group, was a member of the Rosettes and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study. Wilma wore many hats throughout her life. She was an operator, realtor, school bus driver, an avid bowler, loved golfing, played bridge, loved taking fall color tours out east, and had a flair for entertaining. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, 12:00 P.M. at St. Roberts of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Dr. SE, Father Lou Stasker presiding. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday, 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association. |
